NemeriX's GPS Chipsets Provide the Industry's Smallest Form Factor, and Require Less than One-Third the Power Consumption of Competitive Offerings

Manno Switzerland -/February 27, 2007 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- NemeriX, a leading fabless semiconductor company specializing in ultra low power semiconductors and solutions for GPS and location-based services, announced that it is standardizing the development of its next-generation GPS chipsets on the configurable ARCT 600 core family.

ARC's configurable subsystems and CPU/DSP processors are being used by NemeriX's developers to create innovative system-on-chip (SoC) designs, which will help NemeriX further optimize its GPS offerings for the mobile device market.

Specifically designed for mobile phones, PDAs and other Bluetooth-enabled handheld devices, NemeriX's hosted GPS offerings are already the most powerful in the industry - yet they require less than one-third the power requirements of competitive chipsets. By adopting ARC's core development platform, NemeriX's engineers will be able to achieve an even greater balance of speed and size - which will further reduce the power requirements, and result in smaller, more powerful chips that are even less expensive to manufacture.

"We've selected ARC for a multitude of reasons - including flexibility, feature sets, support and overall value," said Gianmaria Mazzucchelli, vice president of engineering for NemeriX. "We needed a processor that we could synthesize into our existing development efforts, and we wanted the ability to define the cache structure to suit our requirements. ARC's offerings were more flexible than anything else we evaluated, and the local, readily-available support that we've received from ARC has been first-rate."

Derek Meyer, ARC's senior vice president of sales and marketing, added, "NemeriX is a prime example of how leading semiconductor companies worldwide are benefiting from ARC's patented configurable processor technology. Now NemeriX's design team will be able to create SoCs that consume less power and occupy less die size, as well as provide a high level of protection from cloning."
