WiFiMobile reviews how the new Euro roaming tariff compares to VoIP

New Euro tariff but does it compare to VoIP?

London, UK -/Wi-Fi Technology News/- With the new Euro tariff gradually being implemented over the next 3 months all holidaymakers and travelling businessmen alike can look forward to reduced
roaming costs when making and receiving calls on their mobiles whilst in the EU.
Not surprisingly, mobile phone operators have been vocal in their opposition. International roaming charges are estimated to be up to €9bn a year. The GSM association, the industry’s global trade body, says companies will be forced to increase domestic charges to offset the loss of revenue.

Under the new regulations the maximum charge for calls within the EU will be €0.49 per minute but how does this compare to mobile VoIP offerings?
WiFiMobile’s Premium tariff available at http://www.wifimobile.com allows free mobile VoIP calls to landlines in over 40 countries with just about the whole of the EU covered. The call is free irrespective of which country it initiates in. With a monthly fee of €11.99 this equates to 25 minutes at €0.49, however the user can continue calling without their spend increasing.

One particular attractive feature for holidaymakers is the free 7 day trial meaning that they can call back home free of charge for that introductory period.

Other beneficiaries include regular travelling businessmen who spend a lot of time in Europe and can combine the Wi-Fi aspect with laptop access.

The service is compatible with all popular Nokia E and N series handsets and VoIP calls can be made over a Wi-Fi access point as commonly found in hotels, restaurants, bars etc.

WiFiMobile’s CEO Gerry O’Prey says “The Euro tariff is a welcome addition for the travelling mobile phone users but remember it has been forced onto the network operators. It is not an act of generosity or a loyalty reward. Mobile VoIP is becoming more and more accessible and users are benefiting from improved call quality and substantial cost savings”.
