Toumaz Technology Named as Finalist in “Medical Advancement” Category

Toumaz Shortlisted By EPD Magazine Awards Panel and Through to “Reader Vote” For Patient Care Innovation of Sensium™ Ultra Low-Power Wireless Body Monitoring System

Abingdon, UK-/Wi-Fi Technology News/- Toumaz Technology Limited, the leading provider of ultra-low power wireless infrastructure for body monitoring solutions, today announces that it has been shortlisted by a panel of electronics industry experts in the Medical Advancement Award category for the inaugural e-Legacy awards. All four category finalists will now be judged by electronic design industry peers in an open “peoples’ choice” vote.

The e-Legacy awards, launched by Electronic Product Design magazine, are unique in the electronics industry in recognising a company’s or design’s excellence plus its contribution, motivation and corporate social responsibility. The Medical Advancement category has been designed to honour the electronic product or system that enhances patient care by delivering new and efficient ways of relieving, treating or identifying medical conditions, including increasing mobility and independence for users.

The four finalists in each of the six award categories were selected by a panel comprising award sponsors and EPD magazine editorial staff. The final stage judging is now open to all and readers are able to view details of finalists and vote for the winning entrants at http://www.epdonthenet.net/e-legacy. Voting closes midnight on Friday 19th October (GMT). The winners will be announced at The e-Legacy Awards luncheon at the Tate Modern in London on Thursday 1st November 2007.

The groundbreaking Sensium sensor interface and transceiver platform enables intelligent, ultra-low power wireless monitoring of multiple vital signs – for example, ECG, heart rate, body temperature, respiration and physical activity (via a 3-axis accelerometer) – in real-time, via standard handheld devices such as mobile phones. The unique combination of ultra-low power wireless and signal processing in one small System-on-Chip (SOC) allows the economies of scale of the semiconductor industry to be harnessed to provide highly functional, robust, low cost, disposable and non-intrusive monitors for a wide range of healthcare and lifestyle management applications.
