Toumaz Finalist In The Innovation In Engineering Awards 2007 Electronics Category

Toumaz Recognised by The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) for Innovative Sensium™ Ultra Low-Power Wireless Body Monitoring System

Abingdon, UK-/Wi-Fi Technology News/- Toumaz Technology Limited, the leading provider of ultra-low power wireless infrastructure for body monitoring solutions, today announces that it has been named as a finalist in the Electronics category of the highly respected Innovation in Engineering awards given by Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

The IET is one of the world’s leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community. The IET has more than 150,000 members in 127 countries and has offices in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific. The Institution provides a global knowledge network to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and ideas and promotes the positive role of Science, Engineering and Technology in the world. The IET Innovation in Engineering awards promote industrial innovation and best practice in engineering, and celebrate the products, technologies and processes that lead the way in engineering innovation.

There are 15 different categories within these awards, which are open to products, proofs of concept, prototypes or pieces of intellectual property which consist of a significant amount of new electronic hardware design (either analogue, digital or both).

Toumaz Technology’s entry, ‘Connected Freedom – Sensium™ Ultra Low-Power Wireless Body Monitoring System’, was one of three entries shortlisted within the Electronics category. Category winners will be announced at the IET Awards presentation evening and celebration dinner, to be held on Tuesday 13th November 2007 at The Marriott Grosvenor Square, London.

The groundbreaking Sensium sensor interface and transceiver platform enables intelligent, ultra-low power wireless monitoring of multiple vital signs – for example, ECG, heart rate, body temperature, respiration and physical activity (via a 3-axis accelerometer) – in real-time, via standard handheld devices such as mobile phones. The unique combination of ultra-low power wireless and signal processing in one small System-on-Chip (SOC) allows the economies of scale of the semiconductor industry to be harnessed to provide highly functional, robust, low cost, disposable and non-intrusive monitors for a wide range of healthcare and lifestyle management applications.
