VeriFone Announces Its New Vx 670 Bluetooth Revolutionary Handheld

Provides Easy Installation for Secure Wireless Communications and Can Integrate Wireless Portability with Landline Telecommunications

San Jose, CA -/Wi-Fi Technology News/- VeriFone Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: PAY) today expanded its industry-leading portfolio of wireless payment systems with the announcement of the Vx 670 Bluetooth, a new version of its revolutionary handheld designed for short-distance environments.

The new Vx 670 Bluetooth is ideal for smaller retailers who want the advantage of wireless without having to deal with cellular accounts or Wi-Fi installation. The system also provides the option to integrate wireless communication with traditional landline telecommunications through a modem contained in the Vx 670 Bluetooth's communications station.

"This combines the portability and consumer-friendly features of our Vx 670 with virtually 'plug and play' wireless installation," said Paul Rasori, VeriFone vice president of global product marketing. "Vx 670 Bluetooth provides the option of utilizing wireless mobility and flexibility with landline telecommunications, which is still a very common form of payment authorization, or with broadband."

Utilizing the Bluetooth 2.0 wireless protocol, the Vx 670 Bluetooth provides an easy-installation secure wireless payment system that is ideal for restaurants and other businesses with limited-distance requirements. Adding to the largest wireless payment system portfolio in the world, VeriFone is able to provide a payment solution for every type of retailer need.

Vx 670 Bluetooth is a highly secure solution. The communications station is only discoverable for a brief period after power-on to establish a secure link with the handheld devices, which are not discoverable by other Bluetooth devices. No transaction data is stored in the PCI PED approved system and customer PINs are never transmitted without additional encryption.

The Vx 670, in GPRS, WiFi and now Bluetooth configurations, is the smallest all-in-one wireless handheld payment device in the world, with a hidden integrated printer.

Built with the consumer in mind utilizing VeriFone's patent-pending MAXui design, the Vx 670 has a large, high-resolution, white backlit display and large, blue backlit keys in a tapered design that is suited for even the smallest hands. A rugged, drop-resistant, spill-resistant case holds up to the most demanding conditions.

Vx 670 Bluetooth is expected to be available beginning in late October.
