VoIP and Wi-Fi Capable Mobile Phones Are The Handhelds Of The Future

VoIP Mobile on Symbian will become an important service in the coming years

-/Wi-Fi Technology News/-Many of the latest Symbian systems are Wi-Fi and VoIP capable, so that they can browse the internet and make and receive VoIP calls as well as normal mobile (GSM) calls.

These mobile Wi-Fi VoIP can work with your modem Wi-Fi router giving you the choice to make as little or as much calls as you want.

The benefit being that whenever you are connected to a Wi-Fi Hotspot you can give & receive internet calls at Singapore or Tumbuktu. For example, if you are connected to a Wi-Fi Hotspot in Singapore, you could make calls from your mobile at a standard rates or talk to colleagues on your provider's network for free as the handset will work exactly the same as any telephone.

VoIP Mobile (see http://www.coms.net) on Symbian will become an important service in the coming years as device manufacturers exploit more powerful processors and less costly memory to meet user needs for ever-more 'power in their pocket'. Smartphones in mid-2006 are capable of sending and receiving email, browsing the web (albeit at low rates) and in some cases allowing a user to watch TV.

The challenge for the mobile operator industry is to deliver the benefits and innovations of IP without losing control of the network service.
