Toumaz Gains Patent Protection in Australia For AMx™ Ultra Low Power System-on-Chip (SOC) Signal Processing Technology; Adds to Patent Grants in UK and US
Abingdon, United Kingdom-/Wi-Fi Technology News/- Toumaz Technology Limited, the leading provider of ultra-low power wireless infrastructure for body monitoring solutions, announces today that it has secured a patent in Australia for its AMx™ (Advanced Mixed Signal) technology – the technology behind Toumaz’s Sensium™ platform.
To support its accelerating commercialisation and growth, Toumaz is gaining international patent protection for the core Sensium technology in the major global markets. The Sensium is enabling a new generation of low-cost, non-intrusive wireless vital signs monitors for healthcare and lifestyle markets.
The granting of this latest patent adds to the existing protection achieved in the UK and the US. Earlier this year, Toumaz announced an agreement with Healthe International – a leading health and wellness group operating in Australia and the Asia Pacific market – to develop Sensium-based applications for elite athlete training and optimisation of sports performance.
The Australian patent covers the core technology that enables the Sensium platform to operate using orders of magnitude lower power than previously required, enabling a dramatic reduction in battery size for portable devices. As well as enabling real time data measurement and processing, AMx offers designers greater efficiency, reduced complexity and reduced silicon area for many applications. The dramatic reduction in peak current allows new types of ultra small form factor/thin flexible batteries to be used – yielding months or years of operational life from a single battery.
