AllCity Wireless Offers Free Wi-Fi Internet Access At Daytona 500 Speedway

Daytona Beach, Florida -/Wi-Fi Technology News/-The 50th running of the DAYTONA 500? was a highly anticipated event for race fans, but many attendees of Daytona Speedweeks this year experienced something they hadn?t anticipated: Free Wi-Fi Internet access. In a partnership with International Speedway Corporation, and Sprint, Maryland based AllCity Wireless established the first-ever successful operation of Free Wi-Fi Internet cloud in DAYTONA 500? history.

?The Daytona 500 is NASCAR?s biggest, richest and most prestigious race. Excitement reached a fever pitch as illustrated by the earliest sellout of ?The Great American Race? in modern history,? stated Daryl Wolfe, chief marketing officer of International Speedway Corporation (ISC), a leading promoter of motorsports activities. ?Our goal at ISC is to provide fans a superior, innovative and thrilling experience. Therefore, it was important that our guests have access to a quality, high speed wireless network, and AllCity Wireless partnered to provide us a great solution.?

In a project aptly named Speedway Wireless, the AllCity Wireless team leveraged the power of its own WiDirect? product in conjunction with equipment from Proxim wireless to create a new completely mobile mesh network solution. ?Anyone can hang access points, but to effectively build, operate, and manage just under a square mile of free Wi-Fi Internet service for racing fans at the Daytona Speedweeks, and then to be mobile enough pack it up and do it again at the next event, that takes a solution.? stated Victor DeLeon, Vice President & CTO of AllCity Wireless. ?That?s the AllCity difference?we build solutions; and here part of the solution is successfully demonstrating to the racing world the commercial viability of a mobile advertising-supported, free Wi-Fi Internet access at motorsports events.?

With an overwhelmingly positive reaction to the inaugural effort, AllCity Wireless is pleased to announce that they are now working closely their partners to rapidly expand the Speedway Wireless project to future race events to and to bring free Wi-Fi access to racing venues across the nation similar to those enjoyed by racing fans at Daytona.

?The impressive and extremely successful initial offering at Daytona by the Speedway Wireless team is a sign of great things to come for many racing fans.? stated Philip McQuade, President at AllCity Wireless.
