Dubai GSM>3G Middle East Congress Attracting Interest From Telcos

London, UK-/Wi-Fi Technology News/- Informa Telecoms & Media is delighted to announce that the 13th annual GSM>3G Middle East congress and exhibition is attracting interest from telcos in a wide variety of markets across the region.

Taking place in Dubai on 15-16 December 2008, the conference and exhibition continues to be well supported by operators from the region's most developed markets, featuring presentations from Etisalat, the official event endorser, du, Zain, Saudi Telecom and Nawras.

A newer feature is the very strong presence from markets where huge growth opportunities are available for operators and their suppliers. The Islamic Republic of Iran will be represented by Mr Vahid Sadoughi, CEO of MCI, the mobile business of national incumbent carrier TCI. This is an exciting time to be doing business in Iran. A third national mobile license is expected to be sold soon, with interest reported from a number of Middle Eastern companies as well as Telekom Malaysia International and MegaFon of Russia. TCI is also set to be part-privatised in the near future and opportunities also exist around the availability of RF spectrum suitable for the deployment of WiMAX across Iran.

Another challenging but potentially very rewarding market is Iraq. A large population remains relatively under-served and rich opportunities exist for mobile operators, with reported interest from a number of regional players. Iraq's existing operators will be well represented at GSM>3G Middle East, 15-16 December 2008. Delegates will be joined by Dr. Diar Ahmad, CEO of GSM mobile operator Asiacell, whose rival Korek Telecom will also be represented by Dr. Hameed Akrawi, the company's Deputy CEO. This Iraqi delegation will be boosted by the presence of Mr. Suleiman Lamaani, CEO of CDMA WLL operator Itisaluna.

Informa Telecoms & Media is therefore confident that this year's conference offers access to an ever more diverse range of thought leaders, representing both high-ARPU markets and those with very high growth potential.

The 13th annual GSM>3G Middle East - Towards a Broadband World will take place 15-16 December in the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Attendance is free to operators and regulators and early booking discounts apply to all others. To find out more about the 2 day conference and exhibition visit: http://www.comworldseries.com/me
