Meru Introduces First Apple iPhone Wi-Fi Management Software Application

Meru Introduces First Apple iPhone Wi-Fi Management Software Application

London. UK-/Wi-Fi Technology News/- E(z)RF OnTheGo™, the first wireless LAN management application available on a smartphone, has been introduced by Meru Networks for the Apple® iPhone™. Network administrators for the first time can work untethered from their desktop consoles, gaining the power to view customized dashboards, receive high-priority alerts, and do anywhere/anytime management from an iPhone over a Wi-Fi or cellular network.

E(z)RF OnTheGo brings the comprehensive WLAN data from E(z)RF Network Manager 2.0 (also being introduced today) to dashboards formatted specially for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Network administrators can access customized views of management data (e.g., network load, density, client counts, connection status) and receive notifications of high-priority events (e.g., user connectivity problems). They can then initiate immediate, context-aware network actions (e.g., notify the Network Operations Center to restart a RADIUS server) without having to return to their desks.

As a browser-based application, E(z)RF OnTheGo does not require users to download any software into their iPhones.

"E(z)RF OnTheGo gives new meaning to the phrase 'management by walking around,'" said Sri Juvvadi, director of product management at Meru. "Critical information from the E(z)RF Network Manager 2.0 desktop console is delivered right to the IT manager on his iPhone. This is more than just a convenience: now, even if the network manager is off site, he can take meaningful steps to address critical issues either from a Wi-Fi hotspot or using the cellular network."

    Pricing and Availability

Available immediately as an add-on option to E(z)RF Network Manager 2.0, E(z)RF OnTheGo is priced at $499 per user license. During an initial promotion running through September 2009, it can be downloaded free by any Meru customer with a service contract for E(z)RF Network Manager 2.0.
