4ipnet Launches 500mW high-power Wi-Fi OWL500 and OWL510 Wireless Products

Taipei, Taiwan -/Wi-Fi Technology News/- 4ipnet, Inc., a provider of wireless network connectivity and management products, today announced two models of 500mW high-power Wi-Fi 802.11b/g devices for long range wireless transmission: OWL500 and OWL510 Outdoor Compact AP/ CPE/ Bridge ; OWL510 is built in with patch antenna.

Housed in rugged IP68-rated metal case, both OWL500 and OWL510 are industrial-grade weatherproof, watertight and rust-resistant, delivering reliable wireless broadband connectivity in harsh environments. Both are equipped with a high-speed IEEE 802.11g wireless network interface based on Atheros™ chipset, transmit rates up to 108Mbps (Super G mode).

Specifically developed for outdoor use, the fully-hardened OWL500/510 saves additional costs of installing network cable or fiber, and can withstand dust, rain, power surges, and extreme temperatures. OWL500/510 comes with business-class security for enterprise applications and is capable of supporting diverse deployment options. It can be a fixed wireless access point (AP mode) with wall-penetrating high-power signal and long-range coverage to better serve Wi-Fi clients. Furthermore, OWL500/510 is equipped with multiple ESSIDs and VLANs to perform as multiple virtual APs (VAPs), which allows for segmenting a corporate network by VLANs to protect critical resources.

In CPE mode, OWL500/510 functions as a Wi-Fi modem gateway to receive wireless signal over the last-mile Internet feed from WISPs - bandwidth assignable for each CPE. When set up as a WDS-mesh node (WDS repeater mode), OWL500/510 establishes multiple WDS links (up to 8) to connect neighbor APs together to extend wireless coverage. Being a versatile Wi-Fi device, OWL500/510 does not limit itself to outdoor usage only. When managed by a 4ipnet Controller (such as the WHG-series), it operates as a Wi-Fi base station in a public or private wireless access deployment.
