Sheffield, UK, July 30 2003 /The Wi-Fi Technology Forum/-
Bridgewater Systems„·, a provider of dynamic IP and data service fulfillment and assurance solutions, and Sepro International, a provider of versatile business support applications, today announced a new venture that will enable service providers to deliver end-to-end managed wireless LAN (WLAN) services to their enterprise customers. The two companies will jointly target service providers in North America and Europe and have plans to launch similar solutions aimed at the xDSL and GSM markets.
¡§WLANs offer enterprises a host of advantages, including increased productivity, reduced cabling and wiring costs and external access for visiting customers and partners,¡¨ said Russ Freen, chief technology officer, Bridgewater Systems. ¡§But implementing them in a timely, cost-effective and secure manner is often problematic. Our partnership addresses this issue squarely. It will enable carriers in North America and Europe to manage complete services, so that they can offer profitable and securely managed WLAN service to enterprises at a reasonable price.¡¨
Bridgewater Systems¡¦ Wi-Fi Service Manager will be integrated with Sepro¡¦s e-Rate Rating, combining complete product and lifecycle management with a versatile pricing and revenue sharing capability. Wi-Fi Service Manager enables service providers to centrally monitor and manage thousands of enterprise sites, while providing secure, controlled access to enterprise WLANs for employees and visitors. e-Rate Rating will support innovative charging models associated with the service and will also enable cost allocation between different business units within an enterprise. The combined solution will integrate with existing financial and billing systems within the service providers¡¦ and enterprises¡¦ networks. It will extend self-care capabilities such as user administration to enterprises so they gain a degree of control over their services while further reducing the service providers¡¦ operational costs.
Speaking about the partnership, Noreen O¡¦Hare, CEO, Sepro commented, ¡§WLAN and xDSL have tremendous revenue generating potential, but it is critical they are supported by proven technologies. The integration of two market leading offerings finally provides the industry with the solution they can rely on and profit from as these emerging technologies establish themselves. The flexibility of the combined offering ensures its repeatability across a number of sectors and will enable our customers to address emerging business models.¡¨
