Siemens Mobile Acceleration is investing in start-up Mobixell
Sheffield, UK and Munich Germany, September 2 2003 /Wi-Fi Technology News/- Siemens Mobile Acceleration (smac) is announcing its investment in Mobixell Networks Inc. The start-up company is the pioneer in the realtime-adaptation of mobile multimedia content ranging from images and animation, to audio and video thus ensuring that the end user can receive media rich content in a format fitting the specifications of his device. The funding amounts to five million dollars in total and is provided by a pool of investors consisting of Siemens Mobile Acceleration, Apax Partners, Comverse, and Optibase.
Mobixell Networks, which has representations in the United States as well as Israel, has developed an innovative technology allowing the multimedia adaptation through its superior performance, carrier-class platform. The company offers a rich-media service center ?MobiXtar RMSC?, which is designed for processing images, animation, audio, and video. MobiXtar RMSC is used for transcoding rich media content, adapting it for example to varying screen sizes, colors, memory, processing power or camera quality. Thus, the end user enjoys a superior media-rich messaging experience, since the content has been adapted to the specifications of his handset.
