Broadband Central USA Has Acquired the Assets and Blue Zones of Broadband Central
DRAPER, Utah and PALM BAY, Fla. - October 23, 2003 - Broadband Central today announced that its assets and Blue Zones have been acquired by Broadband Central USA(tm) (BBC), a newly formed company owned by the parent company of FRC Component Products, Inc. (FRC) and Accelerated Communications Corp. (ACC).
Details on the multi-million dollar transaction were not disclosed by any of the participating parties. The new owners have indicated that substantial capital is being infused into Broadband Central USA to implement the vision of spreading the technology broadly and rapidly, while also enhancing the services offered.
"After entertaining multiple offers from a variety of companies and interested parties during the past year, we felt that this deal had the most to offer to Broadband Central, its shareholders, partners and customers given FRC's role as one of the leading designers and manufacturers of antennas and wireless equipment in the world," said Tali Haleua, co-founder of Broadband Central. "I look forward to helping move the company forward both domestically and around the globe."
Based in Palm Bay, Florida and Mason City, Iowa, FRC is one of the world's leading designers and manufacturers of antennas. It holds the sub-license and exclusive manufacturing rights on the patented stub-loaded helix antenna and has also designed and manufactured antennas used extensively by the military and airline industries. It has earned the quality manufacturing distinction of being ISO 9001 and AS-9100 certified. Already a primary manufacturer and technology provider behind Broadband Central, FRC's parent company ownership is expected to contribute strongly to BBC's continued success.
"The more we became acquainted with Broadband Central, its plans for deploying its wireless Internet services, and the rising demand for broadband connectivity, we felt this was an opportunity we could not pass up," said Ahmed M. Hady (ElMahdawy), president of FRC.
"We are as committed today as we were when we first decided to work with Broadband Central earlier in the year, to the goal of bringing affordable wireless broadband services to consumers throughout the United States," said Lynn Collins, president of ACC. "We look forward to our joint efforts with FRC to bring these broadband services to the public."
Broadband Central USA, along with the support of its Blue Zone Sponsors, will continue to deploy its proprietary 802.11-compliant wireless technology in Blue Zone sites. Each device utilizes three smart antennas and advanced radio transceivers developed and manufactured by the company. At each customer location, Broadband Central USA installs an antenna/client device to provide "always on" high-speed Internet access, with the same high-speed for both sending and receiving data/communications.
