iAnywhere President Awarded Communitech's 2003 Impact Award

Terry Stepien to be honoured by Waterloo region technology association for his contributions to the local high-tech community.

WATERLOO, Ontario - October 24, 2003 - iAnywhere Solutions Canada Limited, a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc., today announced that its president, Terry Stepien, will receive the Communitech Technology Association's 2003 IMPACT award for his contributions to the Waterloo region high-tech community. The award will be presented today at the Communitech Annual General Meeting at Bingemans Conference Centre in Kitchener.

"This award recognizes the strong, long-lasting relationship Mr. Stepien has fostered with the University of Waterloo including research programs, co-op job placements and hiring of graduates," said Greg Barrat, president of Communitech. "The award also highlights iAnywhere's leadership role in the Research & Technology Park - an important project in which Communitech is a partner."

"It is an honour to be recognized by Communitech, an organization that has played such an integral role in the growth and success of the local high-tech community," said Terry Stepien, president of iAnywhere Solutions. "Waterloo is a very special region, uniquely combining a highly educated workforce, industry-leading companies and an extremely innovative and supportive local community."

Mr. Stepien began his career at the University of Waterloo, where he engaged in software research and development at the University's Computer Systems Group and held an adjunct faculty appointment in the Department of Computer Science. He is a recipient of the 2001 J.W. Graham Medal in Computing and Innovation from the University of Waterloo. A founding member of Communitech and graduate of the University of Waterloo, Mr. Stepien is an active member of industry consortiums, and is founder and co-chair of the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) m-Commerce Committee.
