Sasken Expands Capability To Provide Model Development Services For Handsets

Sasken Expands Capability To Provide Model Development Services For Handsets

8 Jan 2004; London, UK and Bangalore, India /Wi-Fi Technology News/- Sasken, a leading provider of telecommunications software solutions, today announced plans to extend its capability for providing Model Development Services for handset manufacturers. This will help Sasken provide a wide range of consulting, application testing and integration capabilities to handset manufacturers, enabling them to accelerate model development in an increasingly competitive market.

"Today, differentiation between handset models from different manufacturers is often made on the basis of the applications supported," explains Pranabh Mody, Vice President and Head, Terminals Business Division of Sasken. "Increasingly, we are finding applications and components being outsourced from third party vendors, which presents greater challenges to the developers, as testing of applications from various sources, as well as final integration across a number of platforms, becomes an increasingly more complex task."

"We are extending our ability to offer consulting and integration services in this area with the opening of programme centres in UK and mainland Europe, with full team support from our development centre at Bangalore, India. This will enable handset developers and manufacturers to accelerate product launches, whilst optimising budget and resource requirements under extreme time pressures." He added.

In addition to providing consulting services in this area, Sasken also tests multiple third-party applications, verifies and integrates each component, adapting them across a variety of platforms. Sasken also provides "black and grey box testing" and regulatory testing support to ensure that through a rigorous process, each product receives conformance approval at the earliest possible stage.

Through this new offering, Sasken leverages the extensive experience it has in handset development, having worked with six of the world's top ten handset manufacturers in various areas over the past few years. This is also backed by close engagements with three of the world's top five wireless semiconductor manufacturers, and many of the world's largest network equipment companies, test houses, test equipment manufacturers and operators.

    About Sasken
Sasken is a world class telecom software solutions provider offering a unique combination of complementary IP software components, research and development consultancy as well as software services to many of the leading semiconductor manufacturers, network equipment companies, and global wireless handset developers.
