BPO Solutions launches fixed mesh wi-fi technology designed to give 360 degree signal hopping and solve line of sight issues for WLAN users

London, May 21/Wi-Fi Technology News/ -- BPO Solutions Ltd, a leading British wi-fi company, today announced the launch of its new proprietary fixed-mesh routing technology for WLAN microsites.

Until now, some wi-fi industry observers and potential public sector and private sector customers have questioned whether line-of-sight and signal-in-shadow problems associated with WLANs could be overcome - both technically and at an affordable price. The BPO Solutions fixed-mesh offering successfully addresses these concerns.

The company has been developing patent pending fixed-mesh technology, known as "Meshhopper(tm)" for the past 18 months with the specific aim of providing microsite customers with a stand-alone solution. Andy Coney, Chief Financial Officer of BPO, said, "Our proprietary technology is OEM compatible, easy to deploy and works with any standard wi-fi components needed for a WLAN microsite. We will not be telling customers that they can only use our fixed-mesh solution if every other part of their site system also comes from BPO."

Coney believes this approach is the way forward both for the wi-fi industry at large and the customers the industry needs in order to grow and fulfil its promise. "Niche products and solutions that are designed and tested by experts, and which can be brought to market quickly - that's the way to go", Coney continued.

BPO Solutions has almost concluded extended field test trials of a rural microsite deep in the UK countryside. The fixed-mesh technology delivers broadband connections beyond the commercially viable reach of telecoms and cable businesses. Using the BPO solution, connections are fast, robust and come at a fraction of the price charged by what are increasingly being seen as traditional wire and antennae mast operators.

Meanwhile, BPO is also setting up urban sites in major UK locations. Andrew Ramshaw, Chief Operating Officer of BPO explained, "Solving the 360 degree reception and transmission problem opens up a huge variety of applications for microsites. From organisations like hospitals that occupy a single sprawling site, or for educational and social purposes, the possibilities are vast."

BPO is currently negotiating second-round development funding for post-fixed mesh launch expansion and to launch other proprietary mesh technology in the coming weeks. The company are exhibiting at the Wireless LAN Event at Olympia in London on May 22-23, as well as at CeBIT AMERICA in New York June 18-20. It is there Coney and Ramshaw will be announcing "Another first for both a UK wi-fi company and for the future of wi-fi mesh-improved networking," as Coney tantalisingly puts it.
