New Management Suite for WLAN Radio Networks

New Management Suite for WLAN Radio Networks /
Gemtek Systems' S-1000 gives network operators complete control of their hotspots via SNMP and HTTPS

Amsterdam, February 18, 2004-/The Wi-Fi Technology Forum/- As the leading manufacturer of Public WLAN complete solutions for wireless Internet service providers (WISPs), telcos and mobile operators, Gemtek Systems will be presenting its brandnew S-1000 network-management solution at the "3GSM World Congress 2004" exhibition in Cannes, France (from the 23rd - 26th February 2004).
This smart management suite can be seamlessly integrated into Castle Rock Computing's common "SNMPc" system, making it possible for operators to have complete control over their WLAN access network from the operations center.

With its S-1000 Management Suite, Gemtek Systems is responding to the high demands of operators for complete management of their entire infrastructures and rounding off its complete range of public wireless Internet access solutions with a flexible and cost-efficient NMS solution. Given that many public WLAN network operators already have a network management system in place for their wire-based networks, the main objective of this new development was to integrate completely both of these system types into a combined management environment. By choosing Castle Rock's "SNMPc" system, Gemtek Systems has put its trust in a proven solution that has been installed over 100,000 times. Both smaller WISPs and larger telcos or mobile operators can now benefit from the possibility of completely controlling and managing all of Gemtek System's components in their wireless networks via
SNMP and HTTPS.

Indeed, S-1000 makes it possible for network operators to administrate their access controllers, access points, "hotspot-in-a-box" systems and power-over-ethernet switches from Gemtek Systems by using a graphical interface. Not only does this make remote maintenance and remote configuration very easy, it also makes batch operation for centrally triggered firmware updates possible at all locations with one mouse click.
In terms of operating costs, this is a distinct advantage for large distributed wireless access networks.

Gemtek Systems can supply its management suite as an integrated bundle with the latest "SNMPc" version or as a module for existing Castle Rock customers. The S-1000 solution will now be offered through the authorized retail channel at a recommended retail price starting from 998.- Euro.
A free test download version is shortly available at the website.
