NetLink PRI Gateway Provides Cost-Effective PBX Interface for Wireless VoIP
BOULDER, Colo., May 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SpectraLink Corporation (NASDAQ:SLNK) , an industry pioneer in enterprise wireless communications, introduces a new voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) gateway for interfacing NetLink Wireless Telephones with traditional enterprise PBX systems. The NetLink PRI Gateway connects to a PBX utilizing an ISDN primary rate interface (PRI) supporting 100 or more NetLink Wireless Telephones through a single interface, significantly reducing the total cost of providing real-time voice communication to enterprise mobile workers.
The NetLink PRI Gateway provides the interface between a traditional PBX and an enterprise local area network (LAN), converting circuit-switched telephone channels to IP packets. Wireless LAN access points connected to the enterprise LAN provide wireless connectivity to the NetLink Wireless Telephones. The NetLink PRI Gateway takes advantage of the efficiencies of a trunked PRI interface to maximize PBX resource utilization. NetLink PRI Gateways can be combined with NetLink Telephony Gateways, which connect to a PBX through digital station interfaces to provide all the features and capabilities of a proprietary wired telephone. The NetLink PRI Gateway supports 23 simultaneous calls, sufficient for 100 or more users depending on traffic requirements, and provides basic business telephone features such as hold, transfer, and multiple line appearances.
"We are seeing widespread adoption of wireless LAN technology, but many enterprises still want to maintain their existing PBX rather than migrate to IP telephony," said Mike Cronin, vice president of sales and marketing for SpectraLink. "Our NetLink PRI Gateway gives customers a cost-effective way to leverage their investments in both wireless LAN and PBX technologies to bring mobility into the workplace."
The NetLink PRI Gateway is priced at $7,950 and will be generally available in June 2003.
