Gemtek Systems becomes first Pronto Gold Partner

WLAN hotspot operators save on installation and operating costs using seamless hard and software inter-working

Cannes, February 24, 2004 -/The Wi-Fi Technology Forum/- Gemtek Systems, the leading supplier of complete and carrier-grade WLAN hotspot solutions for wireless Internet service providers (WISP), telcos and mobile operators, has been made the first Gold Partner of Pronto Networks, a leading software specialist for operating and administrating of larger scale public hotspot networks.
The announcement was made today at the "3GSM World Congress 2004" exhibition in Cannes (France), where both companies are presenting their latest solutions from the 23rd - 26th February 2004.

By integrating the high-performance "Pronto Gold Agent" firmware into its access controllers, Gemtek systems has managed to reduce considerably the installation and operating costs for professional public radio networks using Wi-Fi technology. This means that Pronto Networks and Gemtek Systems are now able to offer WLAN hotspot operators genuine seamless inter-working of all the hardware and software components necessary. For instance, the operator benefits from advanced auto-provisioning. On-site configuration of the controller is no longer required, as the complete configuration process can be centrally initiated and stored at the network operations center.

Following the successful integration of the Pronto Gold Agent firmware into its access controllers and into the brandnew P-560 "hotspot-in-a-box", Gemtek Systems will now integrate this feature into a range of access points. In conjunction with Pronto Network's modular back-end OSS solutions, hotspot operators will then have a comprehensive, stepped selection of high-performance and cost-effective solutions for carrier-grade public Wi-Fi access.
