Cingular Response to House Commerce Committee Letter to Chairman Powell
ATLANTA, Feb. 26, 2004 /Wi-Fi Technology News/- Cingular Wireless Vice President of Federal Relations Brian Fontes today responded to a letter that 23 members of the House Commerce Committee sent to FCC Chairman Michael Powell on Nextel's attempts to realign the 800 MHz band:
"The 23 members of the House Commerce Committee hit the nail on the head today in their letter to FCC Chairman Michael Powell. Interference with public safety communications in the 800 MHz band is an important issue that should be addressed effectively. The Nextel plan, under the guise of remedying this interference, is nothing more than a $6 billion plus windfall to Nextel that seeks to gain free spectrum nationwide at taxpayers' expense."
