Wi-Fi Access for Accredited Journalists at this year's CeBIT exhibition

Wi-Fi Access for Accredited Journalists at this year's CeBIT exhibition

WeRoam, as exclusive WLAN promotion partner,
    demonstrates its SIM-based roaming solution

Berne / Hanover, March 11, 2004/Wi-Fi Technology News/- WeRoam is a specialist in the field of SIM-based WLAN roaming and will be represented at this year's CeBIT exhibition (in Hanover from the 18th to 24th of March) as the Deutsche Messe AG's official WLAN promotion partner for the press centre.

Journalists are being invited to go to the press centre's working area and find out about the WeRoam service and the benefits of SIM authentication. At the WeRoam information stand (on the 3rd floor of the Press Centre), accredited Journalists will also get free pre-paid vouchers, allowing them to access and use the Wi-Fi network that covers the entire exhibition complex. This means that convenient, wireless broadband access across the entire fairground is available.

WeRoam has an international wireless footprint of over 8,000 Wi-Fi hotspots and is bridging between a large number of international wireless Internet service providers (WISP) and well-known mobile-phone operators. As the leading WLAN roaming service provider, WeRoam is steadfast in its use of the advanced SIM authentication procedure. In the same way as GSM telephony, the SIM card makes possible secure authentication, easy wireless access to the WLAN service and billing on mobile-phone invoices.

Journalists, which are interested in using the Wi-Fi network with the pre-paid vouchers -sponsored by WeRoam-, can even reserve their free voucher cards online (see our website: http://www.weroam.com/index2.php?m=newsroom). This offer is only available to journalists accredited by the Deutsche Messe AG and while stocks last.

You can call the WeRoam press team on mobile 0178/2052055 or meet them at the exhibition from the 16th of March.

    Background:

WeRoam is the trading name of Swiss company TOGEWAnet AG. Established in 2001 and owned by TOGEWA Holding and Infonet Services Corporation, WeRoam specializes in mobility management and roaming optimization solutions for the mobile and wireless telecommunications sector.

The WeRoam service facilitates the seamless integration of WLAN and GSM network technologies, enabling global roaming for WLAN services and thereafter facilitating automatic and secures roaming between WLAN, GSM and GPRS. Key solutions found in GSM technology have been adopted to make up the WeRoam service, which provides secure authentication, signaling conversion, clearing and settlement services (based on TAP - Transferred Account Procedure) and management of contractual roaming agreements. This positions WeRoam as the only open roaming platform supporting all relevant authenticcation methods for WLAN Roaming such as SIM, Radius and EAP SIM. Registration is pending to patent WeRoam' innovative SIM based WLAN Roaming technology.

The subscriber will benefit from greater roaming coverage and the convenience of swapping between different standards with the additional advantage of having a single identity, thus receiving only one bill from his home network operator despite having visited a number of operators and countries and having used different mobile standards.

Close ties with its' sister company, Comfone AG, also founded by the umbrella company of TOGEWA Group, allow TOGEWAnet to benefit from Comfone' depth of experience in offering a wide range of roaming services to GSM operators.
