Regional Radiocommunication Conference Convenes
Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting Plan to be Developed

Geneva, 28 April 2004 ?/Wi-Fi Technology News/- ITU is convening the Regional Radiocommunication Conference (RRC-04) to address the technical basis for the planning of the digital radio and television terrestrial broadcasting service in the frequency bands 174-230 MHz and 470-862 MHz for parts of Region 1 (Europe and Africa) and Region 3 (Asia and Australasia). This is the first ITU conference of its kind in fifteen years to deal with the planning of a terrestrial service.

The mission of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is to ensure that all countries get equitable access to the radio-frequency spectrum. This is achieved through world and regional radiocommunication conferences. The Regional Radiocommunication Conference (RRC-04) will be convened from 10-28 May 2004.
