CNET and ZDNet editors recognize NETGEAR with Editor?s Choice Awards: "unlike many of its competitors, NETGEAR tweaked and polished its firmware before it released its first 802.11g draft-compliant product."
SANTA CLARA, Calif. ? May 5, 2003 ? NETGEAR, Inc., a worldwide provider of easy-to-use, high performance networking products, today announced that following the availability of its WG602 54Mbdps Wireless Access Point it earned the CNET and ZDNet Editors? Choice Awards, the first available 802.11g draft compliant product in the industry to earn such recognition. These awards recognize outstanding computing and electronics products that CNET and ZDNet Editors have determined represent the highest quality, design, and service to users.
"Unlike many of its competitors, NETGEAR tweaked and polished its firmware before it released its first 802.11g draft-compliant product," reported CNET reviewer Allen Fear in the review article detailing the lab test results of the WG602. "The NETGEAR WG602 54Mbps wireless access point beat the competition in both g-only and mixed-mode (802.11b and 802.11g) environments. Its reasonable price and great performance make it one of the best consumer-end access points we've tested."
Based upon the draft 802.11g standard, the WG602 extends existing Ethernet-based networks to provide high-speed wireless access to network resources at speeds of up to 54Mbps, providing simultaneous support for both 802.11g draft and 802.11b wireless LAN standards. In addition, the WG602 offers the highest degree of standard WLAN security with 128-bit WEP and MAC Address authentication, and will support 802.1x and WPA with a future firmware upgrade.
CNET and ZDNet Editors? Choice winners are recognized as top products in their respective technology categories, and contribute to the standard by which all future products are judged. A key selection requirement is the difference it makes in the lives of its users, whether through innovative features, exceptional value for the price, remarkable ease-of-use, or a demonstrable boost to users? productivity.
