Wireless Security Leader Airespace Wins VARbusiness Innovator Award
Airespace CTO and Co-Founder Brings VARbusiness Innovator Award Home; Company Recognized by Network Computing as a "Power Player" in Wireless Security
SAN JOSE, CA -/21 Dec, 2004 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- Airespace, Inc.(R), the leading supplier of secure Wireless LAN (WLAN) systems, announced today that Pat Calhoun, Airespace CTO and co-founder, has been selected to VARBusiness magazine's list of Top 50 technology innovators in the industry.
In addition, the company was highlighted in the latest edition of Network Computing magazine as a company to watch in the wireless security space. These two distinctions culminate a landmark year for Airespace, whereby the company established itself as the most decorated WLAN equipment manufacturer and fastest-growing provider of next-generation WLAN systems.
VARBusiness magazine's list of the Top 50 technology innovators in 2004 represents "some of the best and brightest men and women in the industry who exemplify technological creativity coupled with keen business acumen. These are the people who aren't all about the lab, but have proved how to move innovation out of the research halls and into the hands of solution providers who build on their successes."
Calhoun, who heads technical development and strategy for Airespace, has broad experience in the fields of wireless, networking, and security. In the past few years, he architected Airespace's award-winning WLAN system, co-authored the Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP), and worked with leading vendors Atheros and Funk Software to develop Proactive Key Caching (PKC), an extension to the 802.11i specification that improves roaming performance in secure WLAN environments. Pat is also a founder and ongoing contributor to Network World's "Wireless Wizards" column, where he helps enterprises address the real-world issues associated with wireless security and operations.
Airespace's extensive experience solving real-world enterprise WLAN requirements led to its selection by Network Computing as a "company to watch" in the space of wireless security. Network Computing's "Survivor's Guide to 2005: Companies to Watch" section recognizes "power players, up-and-comers, and risk takers" who are expected to have a major impact in 2005. This is the second year in a row that Airespace has been selected to this list by Network Computing.
"It takes an exceptional team to deliver an exceptional product," said Brett Galloway, CEO and president of Airespace. "Pat exemplifies Airespace's commitment to WLAN excellence, which includes unsurpassed security, reliability, and ease of use. We are pleased to receive continued industry support for our product, company, and team members as we solve the real-world wireless requirements of enterprises."
