Alcatel Supports T?l?coms sans Fronti?res Humanitarian Effort
Paris-/27 Dec, 2004 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- On the occasion of its Season's greeting cards, Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) chose to donate 10 cents of euros per printed card to the "T?l?coms sans Fronti?res" NGO.
"T?l?coms sans Fronti?res" is a humanitarian NGO specialising in emergency telecommunications. Thanks to a permanent monitoring centre, as soon as a catastrophe or conflict is announced, its teams can intervene anywhere in the world. They install within minutes an operational telecommunications centre right at the heart of the event.
The goals of this telecommunications centre is to :
- Optimize the effectiveness of operations by enabling rescue teams to communicate efficiently
- Create a link between the victims of disasters or conflicts and the rest of the world.
"T?l?coms sans Fronti?res" is member of the United Nations Working Group on Emergency Telecommunications (WGET), partner of the European Commission's Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO) and member of the International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA).
