BoxedWireless Launches Innovative Public WPA Authentication Service

Amsterdam -/21 Feb, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- BoxedWireless today announced the launch of its innovative public WPA Authentication Service. It allows companies to protect their Wireless LAN with WPA, without the need to setup their own Authentication Servers. Instead, Authentication is done over the Internet. Users that are allowed to access the Wireless LAN are managed through an easy-to-use web interface.

The service supports both EAP/TLS and EAP/PEAP. For EAP/TLS, one click creates a new client-certificate and the next click downloads it to the client PC, notebook or other wireless device. When necessary, a certificate can be revoked and unrevoked with one click. For EAP/PEAP it is as simple: a single click will suspend or unsuspend a user.

?WPA is very secure, but difficult to setup,? says Michael Riviera, founder and CEO of BoxedWireless. ?Although it is easy to configure the Wireless Access Points and client devices, our research shows that many companies do not want to invest in setting up RADIUS servers with a Certification Authority. Our service takes the difficult part out of WPA.?

Although the Internet is a public environment, WPA authentication over the internet is secure. WPA was specifically designed to operate in open environments such as wireless networks and the Internet in a secure manner.

BoxedWireless aims to become a leading player in the network access authentication market.
