CMC brings 802.11 and Wi-Fi Proctected Access (WPA) Testing Technology to Europe

CMC delivers the world?s first 802.11 test systems to provide WPA security enabled multi-station testing for 802.11 and WLAN systems, using virtual station (vSTA?) technology to the EU.

SANTA BARBARA, CALIF., -/21 March, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- Communication Machinery Corporation (CMC), announced that its EmulationEngine? XT Family is now CE certified (Conformit? Europ??nne) and registered in 28 EU members? countries. With this certification, CMC brings its market-leading 802.11 and Wi-Fi Proctected Access (WPA) testing technology to Europe, for the first time enabling 802.11 product developers, WLAN installers, and wireless network engineers to stress test their wireless networks and 802.11 b/g products through direct and user controlled emulation of up to 64 concurrent 802.11 ?virtual? Wireless Stations (vSTA?).

Obtaining CE certification was an extensive process ensuring that all EmulationEngine system components comply with proper EU directives and standards. The European Commission refers to the CE marking of products as a ?passport? which now allows CMC to freely circulate its EmulationEngine products within the European marketplace.

?We are aggressively pursuing and winning opportunities for the EmulationEngine in the European market; obtaining CE certification is a critical step in continuing this expansion,? said Dave Swan, CEO of Communication Machinery Corporation.

?Already widely accepted in North America and Asia, EmulationEngine products will now play a critical role in supporting the explosive growth of wireless network technology and applications in the EU,? added Swan.

CMC customers, network equipment, telecommunications, ?hot-spot? manufacturers, 802.11 products and chipset developers, and companies deploying enterprise and large scale WLANs, must be able to reliably test the capacity and performance of their designs prior to product release or field deployment.

The EmulationEngine measures the performance, capacity, scalability and optimization of 802.11 product designs (such as access points, switches) and WLAN networks including the critical aspects of 802.11 security such as WPA, 802.1x. CMC?s EE-11bg-c enables performance and stress testing of 802.11b and g wireless networks, and the EE-WPA-c offers the full functionality of the EE-11bg-c with support for WPA including: WPA, 802.1x, EAP-TLS, Radius, TKIP/AES, MIC, PSK. Both products have been CE certified, are immediately available from CMC and its distribution partners, and are currently shipping throughout the EU.

Since their introduction in 2003, CMC?s solutions have rapidly become the de facto standard for performance testing of the powerful, standards-based 802.11 products and Wi-Fi networks. The company?s EmulationEngine XT products have been adopted globally by wireless network equipment manufacturers and service providers and major enterprises deploying wireless LANs, including Boeing, Motorola, T-Mobile and Extreme Networks.
