A XINGER.-STYLE TRANSFOMER THAT IS THE SMALLEST ANAREN COMPONENT EVER
(Targeted for the first time to consumer-end products, the unit improves upon lumped element and ceramic solutions for 802.11a,b&g chipsets and Bluetooth. apps.)
Syracuse, N.Y., June 20, 2003 ? Anaren, Inc. (NASDAQ: ANEN), a leader in wireless technology, today announced that its Breakthrough . 2003 launch is a major new improvement in balun transformers ? in the form of a miniscule, surface-mount Xinger.-brand component called a Femto
balun (or FB).
By far, the smallest Xinger-brand component ever introduced by the company, the 0.12 x 0.12 x 0.035? (3.05 x 3.05 x 0.89mm) FB is ideal for next-generation 802.11 wireless chipsets and Bluetooth. platforms ? where it elegantly replaces lesser-performing ceramic and Lumped Element solutions. In addition to obvious cost-savings the FB offers a market-leading 0.5dB insertion loss, outstanding phase and amplitude balance, a reduction in system power consumption, and a return loss that makes the unit ?mis-match? tolerant.
?These components are a true performance and component-count improvement over what?s out there today, a very real performance and manufacturing leap for chipset manufacturers? says Mark Bowyer, Anaren?s Corporate Business Development Manager. ?The FB also marks our solid, new foothold inside of consumer-end products such as WLAN, Bluetooth equipped laptops, and wireless headsets?. Traditionally, the company has been known as a component and subassembly supplier to large-scale wireless infrastructure equipment OEMs in the base station and space/defense arenas.
