D-Link launches new high performance draft 802.11n product range
London, -/April 20, 2006 - Wi-Fi Technology News/- D-Link, the leading provider of networking and communication solutions to the consumer, SMB and enterprise markets, announces to support the draft 802.11n standard with a complete Wireless LAN product family.
D-Link believes the 802.11n standard will deliver real world wireless performance that is faster than a 10/100 wired connection for customers who need the speed and performance now while maintaining backward compatibility with existing 802.11b/g equipments.
The draft 802.11n standard supports data transfer rates of 300Mbps and above due to the improved multiple smart antenna technology, multiple independent data streams and improved coding techniques achieving further reach and better coverage compared to current wireless products.
Ideally positioned for the home and business environment, the new draft 11n product family consists of the high performance router DIR-635, the desktop adapter DWA-547 as well as the notebook adapter DWA-645. All products support the WEP, WPA and WPA2 encryption standards as well as SPI and NAT firewall functionality to prevent potential attacks from the Internet.
?The important advantage for the customer is to benefit from better performance today with tomorrow?s technology and have the assurance that all existing wireless equipment will be compatible with the new draft 802.11n product line? explains Osbert Ong, Product Manager D-Link Europe. ?We expect the ratification of the new IEEE 802.11n standard by early 2007 which will ensure transfer rates of up to 600Mbps. We are already investing today with our technology partners in draft 11n technology underlining our commitment and leading position in the wireless arena? concludes Ong.
