Report on North America corporate telephony cites growth of Internet protocol communications applications

Gartner analysts Jay Lassman, Richard Costello and Jeff Snyder evaluated Avaya and 11 other enterprise telephony providers on each company's technology vision and ability to execute in the marketplace. According to the Gartner report, leaders are companies that are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market.
Gartner noted the Internet protocol telephony market in North America is moving into a period of growth and acceptance, with a focus on new business applications that improve productivity and customer service operations.

The Gartner report follows market share data published in May 2003 by InfoTech and in June 2003 by Synergy Research Group that show Avaya leading both the U.S. and global IP telephony markets in terms of IP lines (ports) shipped.1 Avaya is one of the fastest-growing companies in the IP telephony space, with increases in its U.S. shipments that are more than double the industry rate.
