ACER TO CONDUCT LOTTERY FOR ?WI-FI 101? APPLICANTS

Nearly 1000 Schools Apply for Program; Success of
Wireless Offer Demonstrates Desire of Education to Go ?Mobile?

SAN JOSE, Calif., (November 21, 2003) /Wi-Fi Technology News/- Acer America Corporation, one of the leading worldwide suppliers of PC solutions, today announced that, due to the overwhelming response to the ?Wi-Fi 101? initiative, a random lottery will be held in December to select the schools that will receive free wireless access points and installation. Acer originally announced that ?Wi-Fi 101? would include up to 120 schools selected to participate in this program. Due to the volume of responses received, it was determined that the only fair way to select the recipients was through a blind draw.

Once schools are selected for ?Wi-Fi 101?, factors such as the existing infrastructure will help determine final participation. After November 21, applications for ?Wi-Fi 101? will no longer be accepted and the lottery will only include the applicants received as of this date. ?The response to ?Wi-Fi 101? has been overwhelming and, after reviewing the quantity of applications, we determined that the only fair way to offer the free wireless access points that comprise this program would be through a blind draw,? said Jay Buckner, director of marketing at Acer America. ?The volume of applicants, which is approaching 1000 a, underscores the necessity and need of wireless connectivity in K-12 schools across the country.?

About ?Wi-Fi 101?
The installation of the wireless access points, through ?Wi-Fi 101,? requires no funding or manpower contribution on the part of schools or district personnel. Acer, with funding and support from Intel, created the program as a positive motivation that would help accelerate the penetration of advanced technology into the educational environment. Up to two wireless sites
employing four access points will be installed at each participating school, with the library, cafeteria or computer laboratory being the obvious choices for the ?Wi-Fi? hotspots. Acer reserves the right to make the final selection of all participating schools.
