WeRoam expands its wireless footprint in France

New contract with Monaco based WISP Tekworld adds WLAN coverage at important airports, marinas and harbours

Berne / Monaco, March 9, 2004/Wi-Fi Technology News/- WeRoam is announcing today that Tekworld, a Monaco based WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider) and Web Integrator, will add his fast growing number of hotspots at premium locations to enlarge the market leading wireless footprint of the WeRoam service.

With Tekworld as new WISP partner, Weroam is now able to offer its service at important french airports, like Nice C?te d'Azur Airport, many marinas and harbours in southern France. The list of the added hotspots includes premium locations like the Strasbourg Airport, the harbour of Cannes, the Monaco Yacht Club and the Monte Carlo Country Club as well as with ESCOTA the first Wi-Fi service along South of France highways. Till end of this year, Tekworld wants to operate more than 100 locations. The international wireless footprint of WeRoam, with today much more than 8.000 hotspots worldwide, benefits from this partnership with a much stronger presence in France.

The WeRoam service facilitates the seamless integration of WLAN and GSM network technologies, enabling global roaming for WLAN services and thereafter facilitating automatic and secure roaming between WLAN, GSM and GPRS. As a neutral-host wireless network operator WeRoam helps Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs) to generate the traffic they need to increase usage dramatically.

Background

TEKWORLD, based in Monaco, is focused on information technologies. The company develops high tech solutions for the supply of Internet access, networks, safety and customer management (Portal, CRM, Consumer loyalty). In 1994, Christian Haneuse, founder of the MICROTEK MONACO group (1980), divide his activities into companies dedicated to trade sectors (banks, leasers, maritime sector). The group repurchases a company for telecommunications (TEKWORLD) to develop its activity as integrator of information technologies and yields all its sales volumes of PC, AS/400 etc. The growth of the Microtek group during the last three years confirm its position of a, little atypical, expert (60 million Euro revenue). Because, though of average size, it knew to answer visionable strategies and was innovating while guaranteeing the success of the installed systems.

WeRoam is the trading name of Swiss company TOGEWAnet AG. Established in 2001 and owned by TOGEWA Holding and Infonet Services Corporation, WeRoam specializes in mobility management and roaming optimization solutions for the mobile and wireless telecommunications sector.

The WeRoam service facilitates the seamless integration of WLAN and GSM network technologies, enabling global roaming for WLAN services and thereafter facilitating automatic and secures roaming between WLAN, GSM and GPRS. Key solutions found in GSM technology have been adopted to make up the WeRoam service, which provides secure authentication, signaling conversion, clearing and settlement services (based on TAP - Transferred Account Procedure) and management of contractual roaming agreements. This positions WeRoam as the only open roaming platform supporting all relevant authenticcation methods for WLAN Roaming such as SIM, Radius and EAP SIM. Registration is pending to patent WeRoam' innovative SIM based WLAN Roaming technology.

The subscriber will benefit from greater roaming coverage and the convenience of swapping between different standards with the additional advantage of having a single identity, thus receiving only one bill from his home network operator despite having visited a number of operators and countries and having used different mobile standards.

Close ties with its' sister company, Comfone AG, also founded by the umbrella company of TOGEWA Group, allow TOGEWAnet to benefit from Comfone' depth of experience in offering a wide range of roaming services to GSM operators.
