Hi all,

First time poster here. I have a Belkin F5D7632-4 Wireless-G Router, but I'm having a nightmare setting it up!

I'm already connected to the internet on my desktop PC (how Im here now) but would like to use the Belkin instead so my laptop can use the internet too.

I follow the instructions for the Belkin, which go like this:
1) Plug LAN cable from PC to Belkin
2) Remove ADSL line from existing modem and connect ADSL line from Belkin to wall
3) Connect power supply to Belkin and the lights should flash -which they do. I have all the correct lights lit up -power, pc connection, signal, telephone.
4) Open IE Explorer and go to 192.168.2.1 -----WOAH! What? How can I do that? I've just disconnected my BT modem and am using the ADSL line for the Belkin, and there's now no internet connection. What do I do? I'm usually pretty good with PC's but this has confused me no end.

I assume I'll have to establish a net connection with the new router before doing that 192.x stuff... only I can't. The PC doesn't know it exists -there's no software on the supplied cd (only the manual I'm following) and it's not USB so it hasn't been detected.

What am I missing?

I hope you can help!!

Thanks

Matt

hi: I too am new to this game and do not have same router, however~
the numbers you indicate 192 etc you have to type into your browsers address box
eg: 192.168.2.1 and search
this does not require a connection because its probably to get to the routers setup
system. The brower will display a wizard or something - check the manual

I have a eTech 8505G router so I could be wrong about the above but
I had to do a similiar thing with mine

you have to do it through your dial up connection.

once connected copy and paste : 192.168.2.1 into your browser and follow instructions in the use guide for manual set up.
