Hi. I have successfully set up my wireless router
and it works perfectly well, but only when the
house desktop PC is turned on. Is there anyway I
can avoid having to have the desktop pc turned
on?

Maybe you're running some services on the PC, like
DHCP (which assigns network numbers), that should be
running on the router. Or maybe the router needs
to mimic your PC's MAC address for your internet
service provider (ISP) to recognize it as valid.
You'll need to snoop around your router's interface
to see what's up. __________________________________

Thank you for replyling! How do I do that? ^
I ran the disc that came with the router through
both computers again today and resaved the settings
and etc on both, but it still only works when
the main system is on.
I didn't set up the router, my mothers friend
did who is an IT guy. I set it up according
to the manual and it didn't work at all. |

Most routers have a web page interface, which can
usually be reached (from the computer plugged
directly into it) at
http://192.168.0.1
http://192.168.1.1
or
http://192.168.2.1
depending on the model.
What you can do with that interface varies by

| The username (if there is one) is usually "admin",
and the default password is either "admin" or

Again thank you for replying! the 168.1.1 works for
me, but it won't accept admin to enter. Is
there anything else i can try? |
