hi everyone, this is my first post on this site.
well, i was first looking for bluetooth related stuff and thought maybe
wifi could do the same and that's how i found this site.
anyway, i was having this idea where wifi could connect a phone to a
computer and transfer files? so say like my phone has the wifi ability. is
there a way where my phone could establish a connection with my computer,
and then my computer will have access to the files in my phone, just like
how i could see and access the files when i have my phone plugged to my
computer with a usb cable.
i am pretty new to wifi and bluetooth kind of technologies as in i have
very little knowledge on how it works and what are it's capabilities. i
only use wifi for my internet connection and that's all i know wifi could
do for me. i was thinking of expanding the idea of wifi for not just
internet connection, but transfering of data wireless as well.
hope to get some advices on this. thanks!

xEnOn,
If your phone can go into Ad Hoc mode you could put your Computer into Ad
Hoc mode and you should be able to connect Phone to Computer. Bluetooth may
be a better solution for file transfer to phones. The main reason is power
usage. Wifi uses high power IC and draws a lot of current. This translates
to a really short battery life. Bluetooth uses IC that are very low power
thus the 10m link limit. But your battery will last longer. Wifi has high
transfer rate compared to Bluetooth. But I would think that battery
duration would be very important in a phone.

There Is Many Point :
1- WiFi Is Faster Than BlueTooth (How Ever There Is Many Tries To Develop
BlueTooth For Increase Data Rate )
2- Bluetooh Is Less Cost Compare To WiFi
3- Bluetooth offer Serves More Compatable For This Idea
4- WiFi is used In Application More Complex Such Local Area Networking
And More...
So I prefer Use BlueTooth

You did not say how you want to transfer from your PC to your friend's PC,
do you want to use Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Wired LAN, saving on a USB memory
Stick / Flash drive and uploading them to your friend's computer, using a
floppy....and the list can go on and on. They are all ways one can transfer
files (copy from one machine to another). Or you just wanted to post a
random question smaller than your signature which by the way be in the
proper place, on your user account. __________________________________ Wi-Fi Technology Forum |
