Hello guys...
I have been getting a strange problem, well for
me it is, with my wireless connection. I just
got an Asus WL-138g V2 wireless PCI NIC, i have
got it to connect to an access point allright,
the first day it worked like a charm, internet
surfing was a breeze. The next day, it was still
connected with excellent signal and good speed but
for some reason, surfing the internet took very
long to respond, i couldnt even sign in my MSN,
but I was still connected. For the past few
days it has been like this, except for a one
off day where I had the wireless working sweet.
Can you please help me out? I am a newbie in
this kind of stuff so a little help would be
much appreciated. Thanks in advance! ^^

Change your wireless channel to either 1 6 or
11. May be some congestion on the channel you
are using.

Some of them just need to be restarted every

REamemiya,
Isolate your problem to the specific area. Try the
following
1. Power cycle both the Wireless router and your
computer.
2. Make a link between your computer and the
router.
3. Ping the wireless router from your notebook.
Send a largest packet "ping" can handle.
If the ping latency is low, then you know that
the link between the router to your computer is
good.
4. Ping www.google.com or www.yahoo.com with the same
size packet.
The latency will be longer because you're going
over the internet. If you get a lot of "timed
out" messages you have a problem between the router
and the internet.
5. Plug not notebook directly into the router LAN
port and do the same ping.
If the ping is fast there is a setup problem
between your WAN and LAN settings. If the ping
is still slow you have an issue with the
service. Give the service provider a call.
There are a lot of variables that I'm probably
missing at least this is a start.
