Hi

Help me please. I am about to throw my Belkin router out of the window!

I am using a Belkin F5D7231-4 to wireless connect my Xbox 360 and Laptop downstairs. It is also connected via ethernet to my partners desktop upstairs.

Desktop is running XP
Laptop is running Vista

There is no problem in running the network......... until I start downloading files through utorrent on my laptop.
The network will run for 5-10 mins max and then i either get a local only warning or limited connectivity in the system tray. It is almost like the network has overloaded.
I can resolve this by pulling the mains lead out of the router and resetting it - the network pings back for 5-10 mins then goes again. Very frustrating.

Can anyone advise me on how to resolve this?

You advise is really appreciated, thanks

OMG!!!! What is the thing with this extender. I too am about to hurl this thing out the window. I simply cannot work it out.

I had no real issues setting it up using some of the customer reviews I read on Amazon and various forums. It was a little tricky but I got there without too many problems. Saving settings is problematic but once you get around that not many issues really. Until.....

I can connect to the extender, the extender connects to the wireless router, router connects to internet. No problems, but anywhere between 2 and 10 mins it will drop the internet connection (through the router) and it wont pick it back up again. It remains connected to the laptop and stays connected to the wireless router, but I can't get internet through it once it drops out. Pull out the power cord and it resets then no issues again for another 2-10 mins. Why the hell??? There are no issues with the wireless router or the internet, I can connect through it and it works flawlessly, but once that extender gets in the system it drops the connection (doesn't effect the router, other computer connected through it are fine), it's just the extender.

I have been through countless forums searching, contacted Belkin tech support (I knew more than they did and they never called me back with one of thier Level 2 techs ). I have literally blown hours messing with this thing.

Has anyone at all got any ideas? I have tried WPA-PSK, WEP and Open security and it still drops the internet connection but maintains perfect connectivity with my laptop and router.

Please, please, please can anyone help. FWIW I do not recommend this extender, there is no way things need to be this difficult.
