For what it's worth, I'm on Vista Ultimate, im
connecting to a free public access point. The
problems is that every time i use limewire or
download a torrent to be more specific I get
disconnected even more so than I usually do. It
happens right when the download starts. I'd like to
know if maybe the provider has some sort of
block for downloading that doesn't even warn me of
such a thing, and just disconnects me from the
network.

Very difficult, if not impossible to block current
P2P altogether.
Sounds to me like you could be maxing out your
providers router by the torrent application demanding
to many connections??
Either change the settings in Limewire to limit the
number.
or,
Use Bittorent 6. Free to download. Read help and
set it up properly/acording to your available
bandwidth/use it off peak, so you're not hogging
bandwidth on a community resorce.
Then go into options and limit the amount of
globel connections.
Use speed guide to set realistic connection speed.
We had a bloke from Romania who used our hoby
WISP to download only. Had to power cycle the
router twice a week till we nailed him, - and
threw him off. Never did find out what he was
using, but we have responsable Limewire and torrent
users who give us no problems.
Use responsibly or your free access may well come
to an end .
