Hi,

In our house there are several devices on the wireless network - a desktop PC running Windows XP, a macbook, a windows laptop running Vista, a Wii, a Playstation 3 and an ipod touch.

The problem is that getting an internet connection is often very patchy. For example, when I switch my macbook on, sometimes it will connect to the internet, sometimes it won't & will require a few restarts until it works. Same problem with pretty much all the devices, apart from the PS3 and ipod touch for some reason. But here's the odd thing - if my PC is playing up, all I need to do is switch on my ipod touch, and that seems to somehow kick-start the PC into recognising the connection. Really strange! Not sure if this helps diagnose the problem but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks

Chris

Emmhh, could be that some of the devices are helping themselves to and from each others connections and slowing things down or even blocking each others signals, or too many connected at once causing a bottleneck. Could also be you get your internet connection from an ISP that servers you with a dynamic IP which changes from time to time and the devices need either restarted / repaired to update and get the new IP assigned from your router (or from the master computer server). Hard to say, but anything is possible, such as the devices which are allowed in the workgroup are also jamming the route to the PC or Mac etc.
