Well I just moved into a 2 story house and the wireless router that comcast
gave us is an absolute piece of [censored] and only goes through one wall
that's next door and gives a poor signal when the antenna is pointed
towards that room. I can't add a new access point and can't replace the
antenna so what im asking for is suggestions on what kind of router that
stock can send a good signal downstairs and upstairs that would give over
60% connection downstairs without setting up any wireless
repeaters/mirrors.

Here are a couple or more of wireless hardware options from our store on
this site:
1- NETGEAR 5 GHz Wireless-N HD Access Point/Bridge: The
NETGEAR WNHDE111 5 GHz Wireless-N HD Access Point/Bridge lets you create a
5 GHz Wireless-N access point by simply connecting it to an existing
router/gateway. The resulting wireless network lets you transfer data at
the highest possible Wireless-N speeds, making it an ideal solution for
network gaming and streaming HD videos. By utilizing patented metamaterial
antenna technology, the WNHDE111 offers a speed and range far surpassing
the older Wireless-G standard"
Some people do not seem to be happy with it, though they may be buying the
wrong item or too impatient to set it up.
No reviews yet for it, but probably a good replacement to you router!
3- NETGEAR WPN802 RangeMax Wireless Access Point : someone
explained its purpose better than anyone:..."meant to be used with a
router, it plugs into a router. It is basically a long range antenna, and
is a real flame thrower. It can be used with your existing wireless router
to vastly extend it's range, or to make a non wireless router a wireless
router. Do NOT expect to plug a dsl or cable modem into this device and
have it work as a router. You MUST have a router.".
For my money I'd go with the third option as you don't want to change your
router but to extend the wireless range and improve signal.
If you want to change the whole wireless router, then the NETGEAR WG102 ProSafe 802.11g Wireless Access Point which
does not have a bad review, all good from the looks of them so far, so I'd
go for that. Of course you can have a look on the store, but you don't have
to buy from Amazon if you find cheaper elsewhere!
The Product Reviews Store can be searched and there will be
many other options I guess.
