(previously posted in the wrong forum I think, so I reposted here) - sorry

Hi there, please bare with me,

I've set up my wireless network like this:

One comp upstairs, another downstairs. The one downstairs is directly connected to the internet through my adsl speedtouch modem. I have installed a belkin wireless Network card into this downstairs machine.

Upstairs I have installed a belkin ethernet card and connected that via CAT5 crossover cables to a Belkin Access Point that is also upstairs. The computer upstairs connects to the internet by using the downstairs computer as a gateway.

Now the signal between the two computers (access point and wireless card) is very weak and unstable - keeps disconnecting. Even tho the two computers are less than 20ft apart from each other. (Ones upstairs the other one is almost directly below). As a result the computer upstairs keeps getting disconnected to the internet.

Now, is there anyway of boosting the signal between the access point and the wireless card? Because there is no option of moving either computers :/

I basically need the signal to be constant and at least at 40%.

The access point is set at channel 6 at the moment.

Sorry for the long post, but I thought the more information you had the easier it would be for anyone to help me

Any help would be wonderful!

Tim.
