I am running win 2k on a Toshiba portege laptop and using a d-link wireless card (dwl-650+)
Everything was working just fine and then one day the card stopped working. It hooks up to the router fine but is not receiving any packets. The settings are set for DHCP. When I try the ipconfig command to realease the message is:
All adapters bound to DHCP do not have DHCP addresses. The addresses were automatically configured and can not be released.
Also the ip address is the microsoft assigned 169.XXX.
I have uninstalled/installed the driver countless times. I bought a new card (D-link DWL-G650) and it doe not work either. I also tried reinstalling the winsock registry in case they were corrupted.
Here's the kicker:When I use a different card (Linksys) it works fine as does a regular network adapter.
Yeah, I know, short answer: Use the linksys card--I really want to solve this problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
arg
