I am no expert on the subject but when thinking
about the implications of WIFI and the improved
performance of the hardware (reach, connectivity,
interoperability), I can't avoid thinking of a
community of WIFI equipment owners (individuals not
operators). If a community develops and an agrrement
is put in place, the whole community -if
geographically seamless- could share freely its resources
between users as long as each member has the
capability to re-transmit other users data. This would
in fact make mobile operators obsolete and people
would then be able to talk for free .
Does anyone here know of any such iniciative in
the world or any practical example of this? Is
any such community developing?
