I have worked for dlink for a while now, and I get all kinds of calls to help people connect to the wireless network in the apartments.

I have been thinking about starting up a company to go around and solicate apartments and condos, to see if they would like to add wifi to the venue.

I was just wondering if anyone has any tips or pointers on what kind of connection to the ISP I should be looking into advising possiable customers. Should I tell the T1? or a shared T1? or upgraded cable service? posiable with multiple IP addresses??? I know for the hardware, depending on the area covered and the structures, I will need to look into wifi amps. I know that a normal wireless router transmits at like 30 mw right? should I look into 250 mw amps? 400 500 or 1 watt amps??? and what kind of antennas? to get the best wall and structure penitration? I have seen some nice stuff out there, but the really good stuff, is only licensed for use with certain adapters!! where shoudl I be looking?

A spell checker would make you look more professional.
I think there's a good market to create networks in apartment buildings. Condos would be an easier sell as you would be dealing only with the property manager or board representative.
You might need to set up VLAN's for each apartment to keep them private. Many apartments would want their own LAN within the greater LAN of the building.

Well, I got the reply notification for this thread today! Only two years late, lol. As for a spell checker, I should have used one. I was not really concerned though, just a forum.
