I have a desktop PC and a wireless enabled laptop, they both connect through the same ethernet modem/router to the internet with no problems. I was wondering though, as the laptop is wireless, is there anything I can buy (without having to buy a new router) to attach to one of the ethernet slots in my router so my laptop can access this wirelessly? I've searched the net for such a thing but i'm getting nowhere fast.

Not sure what you mean but in any case, the quickest and cheapest way to have a wi-fi network is to stick a wi-fi card in your PC and have the laptop connect wirelessly in ad-hoc mode. Allow internet connection sharing for the PC as the server, configure both (winxp for example has an easy wizard) and that's it.

In an-hoc mode the server and client/s communicate directly without routers / access points ect..
Make sure both communicate using the same channel such as 11, disable windows or other firewalls when setting up, and enable the firewall after all is working.
Play with file and printer sharing, WEP /WPA encryption if you like, make sure both have the same network name...

Remember if using some wi-fi cards such as Belkin 54g, you need to install drivers first, then the hardware.

Sometimes the laptop / client signal needs up to 30-60 seconds to scan and find the wireless network.

The above assuming you don't have a router / access point, just one wi-fi card in the pc and the one in the laptop.
