I have a desktop connected to the internet via a
cable modem (Comcast). Must I use the cable
company's hardware or can I buy my own wireless
router. If so would it replace the company's
modem or would the router be commected to the
cable modem?
Thanks
niehaus

niehaus is totally wrong. You can buy your own
modem or router or if you prefer modem with
wireless router built in to it. The only problem
you may have is inputing the MAC addy. You can
ask comcast for it. But it woud be best to
look at that slip they gave you when they
installed your service. Also after you have installed
your new modem you may want to send the old
modem back as your leasing it from comcast. I
think you will save likie 3 or 4 bucks on
your bill.
