Untried, boxes unopened. Using Belkin Wireless G Router (802.11g), Belkin Wireless G USB Adapter, with Motorola Surfboard cable modem, on Adelphia broadband (WinXP PC). Before breaking the seals on the products, I wanted to find out the following info (which is not given in the manual or on their web site):

One bedroom apt with cable hookups in living room and bedroom. I would like to install/configure the router, then move the cable modem and router to the bedroom out of the way (where there is no computer), and communicate with it from my desktop in the livingroom by wireless means only. Occasionally will also be using a laptop as 2nd computer (which is already configured for wireless DSL with flat plug-in modem).

When at our other location (on DSL wireless), the computer hooked up to the wireless setup by ethernet cable does not need to be on in order for other computers on the network to access the Internet, leading me to believe that after install/config, perhaps one does not need a computer directly wired to the router at all. If not, that would be helpful in the current situation on cable so that any and all computers would be addressed by wireless means.

Thanks,
Doug - altarslight@aol.com

when you connect your router directly to the modem then you can have all your computers set up for wireless connection.
and even if your 1st computer has a wired connection to the router, you dont have to leave it switched on for using using a wireless connection from laptop.

Thanks Super...Got it going all wireless. Just needed to hook up through Ethernet cable to use the computer to program the router. Then it worked without it just fine.
