please help i'm new to all this.
Basically my problem is this,
I have recently bought a laptop computer for my wife which has wi-fi on. When i 1st switched it on it connected to the internet and i was browsing great.
Then it disconnected and haven't been able to connect since.
Now i know i must have just 'got lucky' with someone else's connection, but I was wanting to put wireless network through the home pc so we could browse with laptop anywhere in the house.
still with me?
Anyway I went to local shop and told salesman what i wanted and he told me i needed wireless router (which i bought for £50) and that i could easily connect it up following instructions.
HA
I only got to instruction no.1
It says to connect network cable from router to pc. No problem.
Then connect another network cable from router to adsl modem. PROBLEM, There is no socket to connect it to.
I realisle that I have probably bought the wrong thing now, but was wondering if there is anything i can do other than take it back and try for my money back?
I'm running xp home on both.
router is a smart g-wireless router.
my home pc has Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast ethernet
and i don't know what to do?
please any advice?

What type of internet connection do you have?

ADSL via a phone line or cable.

You could try with your money back if you had explained to the sales advisor what you were looking for, in that case it maybe his fault for advising the wrong equiptment.
