i have just started a TalkTalk broadband account, my laptop can see my
wireless connection belkin54g , even when i access the router set up page
and go through the wizard it says internet connection connected in green
in top right hand corner, but when i click on my browser it will not

I have had a similar problem with using a wireless router (Netgear DG834G
v2). This worked fine until they upgraded the line to LLU. Now it works
great during a working day, but stops working at about 17.00 hrs and is
intermittent at the weekends. I can connect and get a good response using
the ADSL modem supplied by Talk Talk at any time of the day or night. When
trying to use the Wireless router in the evening or at weekends the router
can connect put if I ping a site not all the packages are returned, hence
no internet response. I have contacted Talk Talk about the problem but they
are unable to help. (its not equipment supported by them). |

Sorry about that - hit the wrong key!
I've had the same problem and sorted it in I.E. by going to Tools>Internet
Options>Connections.
Select the radio button for Never dial a connection .
It's worked for me.
As an alternative, stop using I.E.
Hope that helps.

Hello-
i tried all the above and none suited me, so i wrote to support at netgear
and followed the following instructions ( I live in Costa Rica, so they
might be a little different, but you'll get the idea)
First-- after writing to them the first time, this is the info they then
requested of me (if your going to write to them, just include all this info
to save time in getting your wireless fixed):
From NETGEAR: Before we trouble shoot further,It would be great if you
could mention the following details which will help us to fix the issue in
an efficient way.
1) How many computers do you have-wired & wireless?
2) What operating system are you running in the computers?
3) What is the make and model no of the wireless adapter? If it is netgear
provide us the model no and make.
4) Do you have any firewall software’s running in your computers?
5)Do you get the wireless light on the router?
6)what is the model no and make of the modem provided by your isp?
7)The processor information on your computer.
8)Who is your isp?
9)what is the model no and make of the router?
10) Are you able to access the Internet when the computer is connected to
the router hardwired?
And then, this was their reply:
Regarding your concern, please follow the procedure stated below to
configure the router for DSL connection:
Option A:- In order to reset the router please follow the steps stated
below:
1) At the rear panel of the router, near the antenna, there is a very small
round pinhole that contains the reset button.
2) Using a pen/pencil/paper clip, hold the reset button for 20sec. so that
the test light starts flashing.
3) After few seconds when the test light stops flashing Power cycle the
unit.
Option B:- Open the router page using the following way:
1) Connect the ethernet cable that you have got with the Router to any of
the four ports in a row at the back of the router back to the computer on
the ethernet port Do not Connect the Modem at this point.
2) Open the browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape).
NOTE: If you automatically get a Netgear welcome page then at the address
bar you see www.routerlogin.com/welcome.htm please change this to
www.routerlogin.net/basicsetting.htm and hit enter (don’t click ok)
3) Access the router settings with the address:
www.routerlogin.net/basicsetting.htm or 192.168.0.1
4) Whenever prompted for username and password please enter User Name as
'admin' and Password as 'password' unless you have changed it.
Option- C:- Please follow the procedure stated below to configure the
router for DSL connection:
1) Click on LAN IP Setup (under the Advanced option) change the IP address
of the router from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.5.1, the starting IP address will
be 192.168.5.2 and ending IP address will be 192.168.5.50.

Click on Wireless Settings under Setup.
a) Change the SSID from NETGEAR to any other name.
b) Select the appropriate region.
c) Change the channel to 6.
d) Select the security to be disabling and apply the settings.
You will be able to go online both wired and wirelessly after the settings
are saved by clicking on APPLY.
NOTE: Try disabling the personal firewalls in your computer like MacAfee,
Norton Internet security, Spy ware, Zone alarm etc.
My internet connected immediately after i re-started the computer and
renewed my IP address. ( I never did change the channel to 6)
Hope this helps and saves you some time! |

ok i'm a little lost at the minute, happily browsing the web then POW
negative internet.
Checked my connections and accessed the router setup etc. they all show
that i have full connection.
but i still can't access the internet, plus the connection went down on my
360 as well.
had to resort to using a 3 wireless modem to connect to try and find
answers.
don't know why its gone off considering it was working fine... |
